LESTER del REY

Lester del Rey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ddb-266-41-wiki.jpg)LESTER del REY (1915 – 1993) An American Science Fiction author and editor. del Rey was especially famous for his juvenile novels. del Rey first started publishing stories in pulp magazines in the late 1930s. He was closely associated with Astounding Science Fiction, and its editor, John W. Campbell, Jr. In the 1950s, del Rey was one of the three leading SF writers writing for adolescents along with Robert A. Heinlein and Andre Norton. Interestingly “Lester del Rey” wasn’t his real name, but neither was it merely a pen name, he used at least one pseudonym for his fiction (Erik van Lhin). As a name-fabulist, del Rey edited under names including: Philip St. John, Wade Kampfaert and Cameron Hall. In later life del Rey would be best known as the editor of the popular science fiction imprint Del Rey Books. Along with Isaac Asimov and del Rey was a member of the all-male literary banqueting club the Trap Door Spiders. In 1990 he was designated a “Grand Master” by the SFWA.
