Philip Jose FarmerPHILIP JOSE FARMER (1918 – 2009) A prolific American author of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Farmer is best known for his Riverworld series – which was set in a kind of Bangsian Fantasy world. Themes recurring in Farmer’s work include: Religion, sex, pulp heroes, history and humor. Many of Farmer’s stories rework existing public domain characters from fiction. He wrote a sequels (of sorts) for Moby Dick, and Around the World in Eighty Days, and The Wizard Of Oz. Tarzan and Sherlock Holmes even team up in one story. Farmer also wrote two biographies of fictional characters (Doc Savage and Tarzan). Far too few of Farmer’s stories and novels are available as audiobooks.
