Breakfast At Twilight by Philip K. Dick is PUBLIC DOMAIN!

This was not previously known do to copyright fraud on the part of the Philip K. Dick estate.

In the early 1980s a number of Philip K. Dick’s short stories were claimed as a eligible for renewal under the law. But a close comparison between the actual publications in the magazines, and the copyright renewal forms used (which required notation of first publication) has turned up dozens of discrepancies.

Breakfast At Twilight is another of these fraudulent renewals.

Breakfast At Twilight was first published in the July 1954 issue of Amazing Stories. But the Dick estate claimed the story was first published in the July 1955 issue of Amazing Stories. Here is the relevant page Copyright Office renewal document:

RE190631 Page 2 (back) Prominent Author, Progeny, Exhibit Piece, Shell Game, A World Of Talent, James P. Crow, Small Town, Survey Team, Sales Pitch, Time Pawn, Breakfast At Twilight, The Crawlers, Of Withered Apples, Adjustment Team, Meddler

It was not published in that issue, as can be shown HERE (a list detailing the contents of that issue).

As more proof I offer a photograph of the table of contents of from the July 1954 issue of Amazing Stories (it shows the true first publication of Breakfast At Twilight):

Amazing Stories, July 1954 table of contents (includes Breakfast At Twilight by Philip K. Dick)

Because Breakfast At Twilight was not renewed within it’s 28th year it is PUBLIC DOMAIN.

Here is a |PDF| made from a reprint in Fantastic, November 1966. Please note the of the 1954 copyright on that printing too.

An |ETEXT| is also online.

  1. I might be wrong but I believe I’m right.

Copyright Renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 appears to be the first fraudulent document created and filed with a government agency in a scheme to conceal the copyright status of 25 literary works by Philip K. Dick with intent to be continuously used to deceive and defraud people and businesses financially and to deprive people of their First Amendment rights under color of law.

Copyright Renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 appears to be a materially false statement made with intent to be referenced and otherwise used to create more instruments of criminal deception, conceal many false representations in existing and future business contracts, conceal false representations in future documents (sometimes filed with the U. S. government or state governments) and the basis for abusive, extortionate and otherwise threatening communications with people in the form of letters of demand and/or cease and desist letters.

Copyright Renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 appears to be a falsified document which has been used and continues to be used to criminally monopolize interstate commerce and international commerce and artificially raise prices of more things in more ways than is immediately apparent.

Copyright Renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 appears to be the basic fraudulent document relied on to commit fraud against the United States, individual states and local governments including but not limited to cheating military and public libraries which have purchased books and other materials at artificially inflated prices due to false claims of copyright in public domain works.

Copyright Renewal Registration Number RE0000190631 and its spawn appear to be used to violate state and federal laws such as the three cited below and due to the continuous nature of violations it seems the applicable Statutes Of Limitations and Limitations Of Actions for some of the violations have not expired.

  2. What’s the matter?
In the July 1954 issue of Amazing Stories:
“North America was attacked two years ago,” Douglas said. “In 1958.”
Tim sagged. “1958. Then this is 1960.”
    Later:
“North America was attacked two years ago,” Douglas said. “In 1978.”
Tim sagged. “1978. Then this is 1980.”
