Lovecraft’s 70th death day gifts from the Zombie Astronaut

Zombie Astronaut, has a special set of Lovecraftian MP3s posted up. It is the 70th anniversary of old Howard Philip’s death today! The first of the titles listed below is the most mysterious, it is what sounds to be an unabridged reading of the complete Herbert West, Re-Animator serial. There is a lot of hiss, but the volume is good. The others are radio dramatizations from the 1940s and 1960s.

Mark Nelson, has written in to announce that LibriVox‘s first Horror Anthology audiobook is complete! The impressive collection features public domain Horror stories by William F. Harvey, Charles Dickens, Edwin Lester Arnold, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling, Hans Anderson and H.P. Lovecraft. Of the 10 stories there are four are by H.P. Lovecraft! Narration of the ten tales is by 6 different narrators. Stories vary in length from 7 minutes to over an hour.

ARTC Podcast does a Lovecraft Dramatization

The Atlanta Radio Theater Company has added an audio adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Colour Out of Space to their podcast feed. This is an archive recording of their live performance done at the 2006
DragonCon in Atlanta, GA!

First published in 1927, in an issue of Amazing Stories, The Colour Out of Space is the tale of a Boston surveyor who discovers a horrific patch of land near Arkham, Mass. The area in question is completely devoid of all life!

Check out this shot from the performance, sharp eyed readers will spot Richard Hatch, the original Battlestar Galactica Apollo, sitting at the far left!

It seems the grand-uncle died suddenly in after being “jostled by a nautical-looking negro.” Strange statuettes and dangerous ocean voyages result.
