Rumors: Escape Pod Podcast, YEAR 2

SFFaudio News

What’s a powerhouse podcast magazine like Escape Pod going to do to celebrate a full 52 continous weeks of Science Fiction goodness? Rumor has it that another Paul Di Filippo story is in the offing (possibly even on this week’s anniversary show)! Sometime after that there’s a good chance we’ll see a few, most or even all five of this year’s Hugo award short story nominees too! That’s right boys and girls it’s entirely possible that all five of the Hugo nominated stories will be gracing your MP3 player in the coming months:

Seventy-Five Years by Michael A. Burstein (Analog January/February 2005)
The Clockwork Atom Bomb by Dominic Green (Interzone May/June 2005)
Singing My Sister Down by Margo Lanagan (Black Juice, Allen & Unwin; Eos)
Tk’tk’tk by David D. Levine (Asimov’s March 2005)
Down Memory Lane by Mike Resnick (Asimov’s April/May 2005)

Author of the Month – Harlan Ellison

Harlan EllisonWe’re going to try something new this month at SFFaudio. On May 6, Harlan Ellison will be receiving the SFWA Grand Master award at the Nebula Award Banquet in Phoenix. Besides the multiple awards he’s received for his writing, he’s an Audie award-winning narrator who reads both his own material and material written by others, including stories by Ursula K. Le Guin and Ben Bova. He’s the host of the finest modern SF audio drama series 2000X. He’s even got a couple of live albums.

SFFaudio will focus on all this audio work as we name Harlan Ellison our first Author of the Month!

Willamette Radio Workshop on The Sonic Society

SFFaudio News

Willamette Radio WorkshopWillamette Radio Workshop returns to the The Sonic Society to close out their wildly successful inaugural season with the award winning production of Archibald Macleish’s “The Fall of the City”. A verse drama originally commissioned for the Columbia Workshop (the inspiration for WRW) in 1937. You won’t believe it’s only 30 minutes long.

A note for The Sonic Society regulars, WRW doesn’t have podcast rights for “Fall of the City”, so the final Society podcast will have a Texas Radio Theater episode.

More details are available on Willamette Radio Workshop’s website.

New media darling Matthew Wayne Selznick has wra…

SFFaudio News

Brave Men RunNew media darling Matthew Wayne Selznick has wrapped up his unabridged podcast of Brave Men Run. At the very end of episode 17 he announced a couple of very cool things. First Brave Men Run will be available for purchase as an audiobook, an MP3-CD available through Lulu.com! Historians take note, this is the first commerical hard copy release of any podcast novel! Second, Matt also let slip that his NEW novel, a book called Light Of The Outsider will be coming out later this year again through Lulu.

Finding this out we just had to go straight to the source for more info, here’s what we found out:

Matt has plans on podcasting Light of the Outsider too! Light of the Outsider is set in what Matt calls his “Shaper’s World milieu” — it’s a fantasy genre novel “a totally original world” – if its anywhere as good as Brave Men Run we shall all be very happy campers indeed.

Matt’s got plenty of other irons in the fire right now too, but perhaps the biggest scoop we can actually tell you about is the title of the next Sovereign Era novel, it will be called Pilgrimage. We’re so excited!

You too can keep up with all the latest Matt Selznick News by subscribing to Matt’s email list. And if you didn’t have a chance to hear Brave Men Run it isn’t too late run on over to Podiobooks.com and grab a subscription! You won’t be sorry.
