The indefatigable Christiana Ellis has wrapped her latest podcast project. Space Casey is a hilarious full cast podcast audio drama about a canny interstellar grifter, played by Christiana herself. Christiana insists that this project was more difficult to produce than her full-length podcast novel Nina Kimberly The Merciless. But whatever Christiana touches, it always sounds effortless. Jerry Stearns, who hosts Sound Affects: A Radio Playground, writes in to remind us all that the Mark Time Awards submission deadline is fast approaching.
“The deadline for entry in the annual Mark Time Awards / Ogle Awards for science fiction and fantasy audio theater is coming up on March 1, 2008. The Mark Time/Ogle Awards are the only awards given solely for audio theater. This is their 12th year, and the entries are getting better every year. So, if you’ve produced science fiction or fantasy audio theater that you’re proud of in 2007, make it a point to enter. You will find an entry form at:

judging criteria.The postmark deadline is March 1. The judges will notify winners by Mid-May. The awards will be presented at CONvergence, July 3, 2008. It’s a real treat to meet with other producers and spend a weekend talking shop, in the company of others who love science fiction. We will perform a new original radio show at the beginning of the convention. And during the long weekend there will be time for an audio panel, and an autographing party, so bring your products with you.”

The Zombie Astronaut‘s podcast Frequency Of Fear, back from a recently dead feed, is now undead (and working again). But even while his feed was rotting away the zombie was busy recording and releasing several new shows. I received an email from Bradford R. Bowman, who among other things runs a cool blog about crossbows (it needs updating with more posts Bradford!). Bowman had this to say:
“Hey, I just thought the site [SFFaudio.com] might mark the season finale of Wormwood, which in my mind was really the highlight of the year in audio drama. They hint at plans for a second season, but it would be great if could urge them to that end. I mean, we have to know what happens to Sparrow!”
Good idea! I’ve just finished listening to the season finale of Season 1 – “It has all built to this moment…” – and boy did it finish cool, very, very, VERY cool! I previously described this show as “one part Twin Peaks, one part mystery, one part supernatural” after hearing the Season Finale I’d like to add a couple more descriptors: “Wicker Man-esque” and “Lovecraftian!”
