“The Sith always betray one another. . . . I’m sure you’ll learn that soon enough.”

The overthrow of the Republic is complete. The Separatist forces have been smashed, the Jedi Council nearly decimated, and the rest of the Order all but destroyed. Now absolute power rests in the iron fist of Darth Sidious–the cunning Sith Lord better known as the former Senator, now Emperor, Palpatine. But more remains to be done. Pockets of resistance in the galaxy must still be defeated and missing Jedi accounted for . . . and dealt with. These crucial tasks fall to the Emperor’s ruthless enforcer, Darth Vader. In turn, the Dark Lord has groomed a lethal apprentice entrusted with a top-secret mission: to comb the galaxy and dispatch the last of his masters’ enemies, thereby punctuating the dark side’s victory with the Jedi’s doom.

Since childhood, Vader’s nameless agent has known only the cold, mercenary creed of the Sith. But his future beckons with the ultimate promise: to stand beside the only father he has ever known, with the galaxy at their feet. It is a destiny he can realize only by rising to the greatest challenge of his discipleship: destroying Emperor Palpatine.

The apprentice’s journeys will take him across the far reaches of the galaxy. And he will be tested as never before–by shattering revelations that strike at the very heart of all he believes and stir within him long-forgotten hopes of reclaiming his name . . . and changing his destiny.

All future Star Wars audiobooks to be entirely UNABRIDGED

SFFaudio News

Random House AudioI just got a note from Random House Audio stating:

“All Star Wars titles in the future will be unabridged, thanks to input from our consumers.”

I expect this is going to be one of the final nails in the coffin of abridged audiobooks. Since the inception of SFFaudio we’ve included the “unabridged” or “abridged” notations on all our posts about audiobooks; we hate abridgements. It’d be really something if in a few years we didn’t have to worry about finding ourselves listening to an abridged audiobook accidentally anymore.

Goodbye and good riddance abridged books, you won’t be missed!

“Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master, has unified the Jedi order into a cohesive group of powerful knights. But as the new era begins, honor and duty will collide with friendship and blood ties. The Skywalker and Solo clans find themselves on opposing sides of an explosive conflict, with potentially devastating repercussions for both families, for the Jedi order, and for the entire galaxy. A mission to uncover an illegal missile factory on the planet Adumar ends in a violent ambush from which Jedi Knight Jacen Solo and his protégé and cousin, Ben Skywalker, narrowly escape. It’s the most alarming evidence yet that sparks of political unrest are threatening to ignite a total rebellion.”

This is the first book in the “Legacy Of The Force” series, which is set approximately 40 years after the events of the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

By the way, this audiobook was previously released Audible.com as a promotion for 2007 ComicCon attendees, that version had DRM, this one is naked MP3.
